The Bifrost Guard - Practices

Summer practises are held on Saturdays at Irchester Country Park. These are free of charge and we do a couple of shows for them to thank them for letting us use the Park. We arrive just before 2pm for setting up and take down again at 4.30pm to clear the site for 5pm. Group members are usually expected to assist with setting up and putting down.

We have a group barbecue after the sessions either in the top field or at Fenris and Skalligrim’s. A contribution to this is requested in the form of food, drink or money!
Please let us know what you are going to bring so we don’t end up with 100 sausages and nothing else!

Winter practise site is at Wellingborough Museum. We meet every fortnight on a Saturday, from 1.30 to 4.00, unless the weather is very bad! There is no charge for this and we do shows for them in exchange for the practise area

Please note the weapons training requirements!

The Group will provide new fighting members with:
A round Viking shield – this remains group property and will need decorating in the colours and raw hide pinning around the edge. Members are responsible for repairs. Once damaged beyond repair a new shield will be provided using the old boss.

Practise weapons for scram, spear and axe. These remain with the Traders at all times and will be available for practise sessions and shows. It is expected that members take approx 2-3 month to think about it and make sure they are committed before ordering their own personal weapons.

There may be some items of clothing available to borrow for a couple of weeks while members sort out their own authentic clothing. It is expected that all practise sessions are done in kit when ever possible as members of the public are around at all times. Footwear is excepted from this requirement for practise sessions only.
